MILAN: After defeating Juventus 2-1 on Saturday, second-place Lazio took control of a tight Serie A battle for Champions League qualification.
After Adrien Rabiot cancelled out Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s disputed opening goal, Mattia Zaccagni scored the decisive goal early in the second half.
Lazio beat Torino 1-0 to move five points ahead of Roma, who are in third place. Lazio were six focuses in front of AC Milan and seven in front of fifth-put Entomb Milan after they dropped focuses on Friday.

Hellas Verona beat Sassuolo 2-1 in a relegation battle thanks to two late goals, giving them a real chance of staying in the league.
Federico Ceccherini evened out with six minutes remaining and individual substitute Adolfo Gaich got in stoppage time after a goalkeeping mistake.
Verona moved within four points of safety after 17th-place Spezia drew 1-1 with Fiorentina, preventing its opponent from achieving a record 10-game winning streak across all competitions.
In a game between teams at the bottom of Serie A, Cremonese defeated Sampdoria 3-2 in stoppage time to help them fight back. Sampdoria replaced Cremonese in last place, 11 points from safety.
In extra time, Udinese also scored from a penalty kick to draw 2-2 with Monza.
